Get out and smell the flowers!

There are so many flowers blooming right now, it is a prime time to go out and smell them. Smell them like crazy!  Many of them are blooming trees so you don’t even have to bend over :).
I took my dog out today and came upon an apple tree in full bloom.  I was in a hurry, but I laughed to myself.  This is is! This is what the saying “Stop and smell the flowers.” is about.  I could run back inside and try to finish all I have to do before I go to work or:
I had to pull the branch down to me.  The smell was magnificent so light and sweet, it made my neighbor’s entire yard smell delicious in the warm heat.
Essential oils can only be harvested from some plants.  Many of our favorite flower/plant smells can’t be bottled. Not Lilac or Lily of the Valley or Violet.  Not any of the fruit trees, like this Apple I smelled this morning.  So, while I love to use my bottled essential oils, the more I learn about the clinically proven healing benefits of essential oils the more I want to get out there (and get you out there) to smell the potent powerful oils that are emanating from the plants all around us.
“Forest Bathing” is a healing practice from Japan in which people are mindful while walking in nature.  There are many calming and healing benefits, some very profound. “Women who logged two to four hours in a forest on two consecutive days saw a nearly 40 percent surge in the activity of cancer-fighting white blood cells, according to one study.”

What?!
They think part of the reason is because of the chemicals that the plants and the trees give off and the essential oils in the air that we take in by breathing.
It is such a fleeting season and the delicate spring flowers don’t last long so listen to the old saying and get your nose into a flower as often as you can this spring.
