Happy May Eve!

Happy May Eve or Beltane, which is a holiday that marks the halfway mark between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. It is a time to celebrate spring when the earth comes back to life. There is so much regeneration and potency around us at this special time of year.

In Celtic pagan traditions, this is a time of fertility celebration, planting, feasting, and jumping over the Beltane bonfire to purify yourself and make wishes for the coming season.

I know I went over releasing last week in celebration of the full moon, but Beltane is another time to release what you no longer want and plant the seeds of what you do want.

Taking time to step back and notice how things are going at these turning points in the year is a wonderful enriching practice.

Sometimes when we sit down and look at things it can be challenging or painful but it is still a useful practice if you want things to change. This situation is a great time to use some of the releasing I mentioned in last week’s newsletter.

But, I realized one important method of release that  I forgot to mention last week was crying.

Crying is sacred.

Crying is beautiful.

And crying is such a tremendous relief.

And release.

At this point when I cry about something I try to allow it to go on as long as it needs to, and even sometimes encourage it to be longer and more heartfelt by adding in other things to weep about.

Because as we all know right now there is much cause for weeping.

Things like my children growing up and moving out soon. (excitement and weeping for that one :))

Things like murder of children and others in ongoing wars.

Things like inflation that makes daily living even more challenging

Things like an upcoming election that puts so much we take for granted at risk.

Things like being deeply disappointed by people and their choices to hurt each other and the Earth.

Things like realizing people are more motivated by greed than you ever could have imagined.

Things like mortality, sickness and pain.

Things like burnout and exhaustion.

I could go on and on.

There really is ALOT.

So, really, it is good to celebrate getting through each day.

Because things are hard.

And if your up for it – take an opportunity to step back and look at how things are going and what you would like to be different (the things that you actually have some control over).

And if you find yourself weeping, let it come and let the tears wash away the pain and the anguish.

Releasing makes space that allows you to find joy and love that is available to you.

And then we can have the strength and motivation to make our lives better as well as change the world around us.
