Tapping can help you sleep.

This fellow seems to be sleeping well, although his neck might hurt when he finally wakes up. I went to the Museum with my parents and Georgia yesterday and I was on the lookout for a nice image of restful sleep for this post because I knew I wanted to write to you more about sleep.

Many people have trouble falling asleep.

And many people have difficulty staying asleep.

I know, because frequently those people come to me asking questions about sleep. (It might be the topic I’m asked about the most.)

A few weeks ago I wrote about using essential oils to help with sleep.  They really are a powerful tool in the quest for a good night’s rest. Here’s a link on that topic:

Tapping or EFT is another amazing tool to help with sleep.

Here is the post with the places where you tap, which is great if you need a review of the spots.

So, tapping can really help when you are up at night and you can’t sleep. You can get up out of bed and tap along with this great 6 minute video with Brad Yates. It addressed the underlying mind chatter and worry about getting things done that keeps many people awake. (He also yawns so much it might trigger your own yawning :))

Brad also addresses feeling safe in sleep, which can be a deep underlying barrier for many.  I friend just told me she has a pit-in-her-stomach feeling of anxiety when she sleeps somewhere other than her home.  The last time she went to sleep somewhere new she tapped and the pit feeling in her stomach went away. Hooray!

That’s what so wonderful about tapping. Once you realize that you can release those heavy negative feelings (that sometimes have felt permanent) you can really open up the doors to more joy and freedom in so many areas of your life.

Another technique for tapping into sleep is Patricia Carrington’s tapping to bring on the drifty pre-sleep feeling (or the hypnagogic state). This link is to her article on using that pathway to drift on to sleep which many people have found helpful.

There is also a great interview and round of tapping with Ruth Stern who works with insomnia and tapping. She herself used tapping to get off the strong sleeping medicine Klonopin which she had been on for 8 years!
Sometimes, if going to sleep is too charged and stressful; it can be too rousing to tap at bedtime.  Another helpful technique is to tap before bedtime, at any time during the day. Bedtime can be the time when we finally slow down enough to feel the stress of the day, so tapping throughout the day can really help shift the root causes of insomnia.  Also the insomnia itself is stressful and upsetting so you can also focus your tapping on the issues that your insomnia brings up like stress, overwhelm and disappointment, anxiety, or fear.
I hope all these resources work to help you get deep restful sleep!
Email or call if you have any questions or would like to make an appointment to get going on tapping.
