No to Kings and Yes to the Moon!

Newsletter   March 2026  Volume 194

Hello there

Hope things are going well.

I am diligently working on setting up my online Flourish with the Moon class and enjoying the process of going through and reviewing all my notes, previous classes, marvelous moon books I’ve read and beautiful images I’ve collected.

I am so excited for this class to finally be live and I think many of you will love it. Part of the class is year-long access to a virtual gathering around the New Moon every month where we check in about the previous month and then set our intentions and do some energy work for the coming month. Fun!

The moon has been orbiting earth longer than any life on earth. So all life evolved under the light of the moon. Everything that has ever lived has lived and died with its changing shifting light overhead.

I think this is beautiful and I think it is part of why so many people really love the moon. There is an ancient and primal part of ourselves – the part that engages in ritual and is inspired by the beauty of nature and the night sky. That is the aspect of us that Flourish with the Moon is calling forward.

Connecting to that timeless eternal force is like finding a spring bubbling up from deep of the Earth that can quench our profound thirst for meaning, connection and aliveness even in times of great despair.

But I’m taking a break from my attempt to focus on class creation to remind you to attend a

No Kings Rally this Saturday March 28th!

I’m hoping for beautiful weather, but rain or shine, getting out with your fellow humans to protest and joining in a celebration of freedom and humanity is definitely the place to be this weekend.

The rallies in my experience are mostly an exuberant community event. People are so glad to see other people out there showing up and speaking up for human rights and justice for all. It is a great kind of medicine to be enveloped in fellow travelers who haven’t given up.

And this one is going to be big.

Let’s do everything we can to make it even bigger wherever you are.

I look forward to seeing you out there and hearing about us making this the biggest gathering this country has ever seen.

I went to a disco dance party at the Iron Horse on Friday and it was packed!

So many people dancing, singing, and being in joyous company together. It was so healing. It lifted my mood and made me feel connected and less alone in this political humanitarian nightmare.

In the middle of the festive joy, I felt a pang of guilt at the privilege. We all got to be safe and joyful with each other, celebrating music and joy and goofiness all together when so many people are living in fear, displaced, dying, threatened, imprisoned or so frightened of being disappeared in their own country and lost in a nightmare system so they can’t go out and enjoy the company and community of others.

It hit me like a brick and stopped me, but then I thought of the writer Dan Savage, whose columns I read in the Valley Advocate for years and his quote about living and fighting through the AIDS crisis.

“We buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for”

The dance is what we are fighting for.

The rallies are a coming together with people who are willing to step out and declare that they want something very different; something much better for this country and the world. So bring your signs and your voice and your presence – because every time we speak up and every time we step out, it makes a difference even if much of that difference is in our own soul and spirit.

I have also been thinking of this quote from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, spoken by the monster himself –

“Life, although it may only be an accumulation of anguish, is dear to me, and I will defend it.”

Life is precious. Let us get out there and defend it and protect our neighbors in our country and around the world.

Much love and strength to you all.

xoxo

Katherine
